Institutional position

Tokuva is a product name. The developer and contracting party is Toku Technology Uluslararası Ticaret ve Sanayi A.Ş., founded in 2015 and operating from Aksaray University Technopark in Türkiye.

TOKU Technology runs an ecosystem rather than a single product, positioned across five areas: corporate management, manufacturing and automation, quality and compliance, sustainability and energy, and education and digital platforms. Tokuva is the corporate management product of that structure and shares its data discipline with the rest. See the Toku Technology page for the full ecosystem.

Basis of the product

Tokuva's scope was derived not from one organisation's requirements list but from the body of enterprise software, systems implementation and management consulting work carried out across sectors and company sizes. Problems recurring in unrelated organisations were recorded throughout that work, and the product's module structure and data model were designed on the basis of those findings.

Findings

Four problem areas that recur regardless of company size

These are findings that recurred across implementation and consulting work in different sectors. The product's scope was built on these four headings.

The gap between the floor and the record

In most organisations the difference between what happens on the production floor and what is recorded in the system is not detected until period close. The variance becomes visible when it is reported rather than when it could still be corrected.

Late and estimated cost

When cost is formed at period close rather than at the moment of decision, pricing and quotation have to rest on estimates. Profitability can only be measured months after the order was accepted.

Regulation carried as an add-on

Where local statutory requirements are not part of the core data model, every regulatory change becomes a separate development and test item. Compliance turns into a recurring cost for the life of the system.

Modules that are not genuinely integrated

Modules that look adequate individually leave the reconciliation burden with the organisation when they do not share a data model. Holding the same fact in two places makes 'which one is right' a permanent question.

Positioning

An assessment of the products available in the market identified two structural gaps. International products are functionally adequate but carry Turkish statutory requirements outside the core data model. Local products are strong on statutory compliance but do not cover the production floor within the same data model. Tokuva was designed to meet both requirements on a single data model.

Engineering discipline

Every architectural decision is documented as a decision record, together with its rationale and the alternatives considered. These records form the product's institutional memory: for a developer joining the team, the answer to "why was this designed this way" exists in writing.

Database naming standards, multilingual data and audit-trail discipline have been mandatory from the first day. Added later, each of these three carries a data migration and retesting cost — a cost observed repeatedly in inherited systems.

Implementation model

The team that builds the product also runs the implementations. There is no partner layer between the organisation and the developer. The model does not scale quickly, but it puts field feedback directly into the product: a gap found during implementation enters the development queue without passing through an intermediary.
